Sorry I’ve been out of touch. While I do have a local SIM card and can stay in touch with social media, etc., we are still waiting for our house to get wifi… hopefully that will get sorted soon and I’ll be able to update more often.
So, if you’ve been following my stories on IG/FB you know that Peru is pretty awesome! The climate is very similar to that of the West Coast: cool and cloudy, but with more humidity. The sun shines far more in California, but definitely peaks it’s head out here every other day or so. The food is absolutely amazing! There truly hasn’t been a dish that I have disliked. I even tried guinea pig (in the form of stuffed mushrooms)!
We began training last week, the day after my arrival, and have been going pretty strong since. I have a crew of longboarders, as few as 3 and as many as 8, who are all showing improvement with each meeting we have. Some in the group are simply bettering their skills, while a few others are actually training in hopes of being selected to surf in the upcoming PanAm competition. There are 2 spots available in both the men and women longboard divisions. With 2 of those spots already filled by the top ranking Peruvian longboarders, the other 2 spots will be filled by either super stylish Tamil Martino or highly talented Lucas Garrido Lecca for the men and for the ladies up and coming noserider Ana Camila Kaspar or uber focused and strong Carolina Thun. And I have to help make this decision!!! Yikes!
